Just me trying to read everything TJR has ever written and this one didn't disappoint! True Loves follows Emma Blair, who marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. However, on their first wedding anniversary, Jesse allegedly dies due to a helicopter accident. The story then follows Emma navigating through her despair, grief, and heartache and eventually she finds a second chance at love. Years later, and now engaged to Sam, Emma finds out that Jesse is alive. This places Emma in an unexpected and difficult circumstance — having to choose between a husband and fiancé.

Having read the synopsis of this book, I had no idea what to expect. I’ve never been in this situation, and I was particularly curious to know how Emma handled this unusual occurrence. I started asking myself — who’d I pick if I were Emma? And I realised that I was perhaps asking the wrong question. I guess, I should’ve instead been asking — which version of myself do I want to be? I loved how the plot unravelled, and TJR’s writing is always nothing short of remarkable. The discussion on how people evolve and change over time particular spoke to me and was an apt message in this season of my life.

Definitely pick this one up if you want a unique, gripping and fast-paced novel, and another perspective on what it means to have true love.
