You Again is a fun, light-hearted, holiday-themed romance that follows divorced couple, Amy Caddick and Joel Sinclair. Amy and Joel resent each other as they both conspired to ruin the other person’s life. As a result, Amy lost her job and Joel lost a fortune due to their catastrophic divorce.
Eight years later, they are back on the same beautiful, picturesque island in the Maldives (where they had their honeymoon) with their new partners hoping to recreate some of the magic. But, both have picked the same week at the same resort. And their rooms are right next door to each other!
Trapped together on the tiny glamorous island, Amy and Joel resume where they left off: at each other's throats. And so begins a horrible week of rivalry and one-upmanship, by trying to outdo the other to settle old scores. Both Amy and Joel try to prove they’ve now won at life and are better off without each other.
But what if being back in this idyllic island paradise, with all its wonderful memories, sets sparks flying and ignites flames in more ways than one?
I liked the unique tone of this book. The pranks, jokes and tricks played on the main characters were so enjoyable and funny to read about. The airport and summer vacation setting felt so warm and triggered real holiday vibes. It made me want to travel! The couple had great tension and deliciously spiteful banter. Nick Spalding's humour writing is realistic and relatable. In addition, this novel also had a mystery element and the reveal/plot twist at the end truly shocked me. It is a great novel to read in the summertime!
